Kalkaska, Michigan
Kalkaska is famous for the Trout Festival and makes
visitors welcome from all over the world. However. there
are a lot of other reasons to make this village a
destination.
The natural wonders in the area are second to none. The
shops are friendly and full of surprises. Winter sports
here are some of the best in the state. All of this in a
community that cherishes its history while creating its
future.
You never know what you will find in the least expected places. If you are going through Kalkaska you might want to stop at Whitetails. From the outside it looks like an old time "up north" steakhouse. Inside it is clean and comfortable and full of surprises. The gyro is excellent, The stuffed grape leaves are excellent. Yes they have burgers etc. but, they have really great middle east dishes as well, just delicious.
The Sieting Hotel was built the same year the Titanic sank. Local entrepreneurs have been hard at work on this historic structure. If all goes as planned, the Hotel Sieting should reopen in 2013. The opening will be in stages beginning with the tavern section.
The Leetsville ORV Trail offers 20+ miles of trail riding, click here for more trail and camping info.
