Bellaire, Michigan - Gateway to the Chain of Lakes


bellaire montageBellaire is surrounded by glacier-carved hills and steep valleys.  It is centrally located on the chain of lakes, connecting 75 miles of waterway.  The peaceful Intermediate River runs through downtown, nature areas abound and the nearby resorts offer endless possibilities for recreation.

The stores in Bellaire, Michigan offer a wide range of shopping destinations.  Local artisans add to the unique products and goods that can be found in several of the shops.  The Bellaire Smokehouse is a favorite of locals and visitors alike.  Fresh fish and other goodies are smoked regularly; simply mouthwatering.

Bellaire, Michigan was an historic logging and manufacturing center. The historical museum holds artifacts from the days when wooden utensils were made here. The family who ran that business were also responsible for the construction of a spectacular home. That house is now a B & B known as The Grand Victorian. There is a romantic love story behind the construction. The museum is downtown.

Just a couple of miles outside of town is Torch Lake, generally described as the third most beautiful lake on earth.  Torch Lake is  famous for the unique color of the crystal clear water and the delicious whitefish that are there for the catching.

The views of Torch Lake on this "up north" scenic drive will make it clear why Torch Lake is considered the 3rd most beautiful lake in the world.
