Picturesque hills and steep valleys carved by glaciers surround Bellaire. The town is centrally located on the chain of lakes, connecting 75 miles of waterway. The peaceful Intermediate River runs through downtown, nature areas abound and the nearby resorts offer endless possibilities for recreation.
Day 1 - Downtown Bellaire - There is no need to be in a hurry since there is a lot to discover in downtown Bellaire. There are great shops like Little Treasures offering fantastic toys and stuff for the kids, and Uniquely North for those rustic accents. It isn't all shopping. The historical museum is downtown where you can learn more about some of the beautiful architecture that is all around. The famous micro-brewery, Shorts, is here and the famous Bellaire smokehouse.
Day 2 - Nature Day – Natural beauty is surrounds this quaint little town and you could spend three days just exploring, hiking and boating. The Intermediate River flows through town. It is well known to Walleye fishermen and is the site of the annual Rubber Ducky Race. In addition to the river, Lake Bellaire is nearby, well known to the local anglers. Torch Lake, the third most beautiful lake in the world, is just a few miles away. Known for the incredible color of the water, a spectacular turquoise, Torch Lake is a must visit for fun on the water. The 19 mile long lake provides scenery and those delicious white fish.
Glacial Hills Pathway is the destination for bikers and hikers. The extreme ecological diversity found at the Glacial Hills Pathway and Natural Area speaks to its statewide significance. For an easier hiking day the
Grass River Nature Area offers trails and interpretive nature areas just outside of town.
Day 3 -
Torch Lake Drive - This is a gorgeous scenic drive and a great way to explore this area and find some of the hidden treasures along the way.
