Dam Festival - Eaton Rapids Michigan
www.eatonrapidshistory.weebly.com
The
annual Dam Festival is in August, with most
activities happening between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Saturday
at the Miller Farm Complex. On tap are tours of dams around
Eaton Rapids, live entertainment, kids' games, and arts and
crafts. Most events are free.
All the historic buildings in the village will be open,
including the one-room schoolhouse, ice cream parlor,
church, house, the Jean Kline Block and blacksmith shop. You
can have a scoop or a sundae at the ice cream parlor just
like your grandparents did, back in "the day".
The Dam Festival was developed as a way to inform people
about the rich history of Eaton Rapids, and also as a fund
raiser to preserve that history. With so many dams in the
area, the ERAHS thought it was important to share that
history, and have some fun at the same time!
The Dam Festival is just one of many events that take place in town. Island Park is the location for some and may host the Quiet Water Symposium in the future.
