Richmond 2 Romeo Race - Michigan
Always In September - www.romeo2richmondrace.com
The Romeo2Richmond race (R2R) is held on the third Sunday of September each year by the City of Richmond and Macomb County. It features a certified half marathon run (13.1 Miles) and a 5K (3.1 Miles) fun run/walk.
The Half Marathon race begins in Romeo at the Romeo Trailside Park. The course will take runners over the M-53 Bridge, a trestle bridge over the North Branch Clinton River, through Armada and then into Downtown Richmond. Participants of the half marathon race will be bused to the start line from the registration and finish line area in Richmond. The entire race is run on the paved Macomb Orchard Trail and offers visually stunning scenery that ranges from open meadow to densely forested areas along the route. The 5K run/walk begins on the streets of Richmond and winds through a scenic neighborhood before also being run on a portion of the Macomb Orchard Trail.
Both races end at the Richmond Trailhead Park in the heart of Richmond. The past two years the R2R has raised over $20,000 for the Macomb Food Program. For every dollar received, the food program is able to purchase over two days worth of food. Currently 55 neighborhood food pantries provide emergency food service in Macomb County. Race proceeds will be donated to the Macomb Food Program. Runners are encouraged to bring food donations on Race Day or to donate additional dollars while registering.
