The 40th annual Jonesville Riverfest is May 16, 17, and 18, 2014! This festival is always held on the 3rd weekend in May. Riverfest is a non-profit event organized by fewer than 10 committee members, with planning starting as early as October each year. River clean-up starts in April and finishes the week before the races. The event is funded solely by donations from businesses located throughout Hillsdale County. During the weekend over 100 volunteers are needed to make the event run well.
Glide down the St. Joseph River in south Michigan past the site of a Native American village that stretched for miles and catch a glimpse of how things used to be. See a trading post from the early 1800s that was replaced by a Georgian-style manor, a blacksmith shop from the 1870s that is currently a museum, and evidence of an 1850s era sawmill, including the remnant of its dam and millrace, that once sent lumber to Chicago and Milwaukee.
