Michigan getaway vacations to
Michigan attractions and Terrific Towns
While
the resorts and towns of our west coast are well known and full of
visitors, the Sunrise Side of Michigan remains quiet and nearly
unexplored by most tourists. Whether you are a Michigan resident or
a visitor from out of state, the sunrise side will delight and
surprise you. The northeast region has hidden springs,
historic rivers and lighthouses.
After visiting just a few of the treasures hidden away along Lake Huron and the whole sunrise coast, you will certainly want to plan more trips both short and long. Consider a drive along the thumb coast on M-23; at any season of the year the drive from Lexington to Port Austin is a pure delight of spectacular lakeshore, historic towns, museums, lighthouses and beaches. There are unique shops, B&B's, old Michigan cabins and fine dining. The Terrific Towns of Lexington, Harbor Beach and Port Sanilac will provide all of the above plus much more.
Ancient history can be seen at the Sanilac Petroglyphs.
Want to go a little further north?Try the Alcona and Montmorency county areas which includes the drive along M-25, the river road, Iargo Springs, waterfalls, sinkholes, Kirtland.s warbler and black bear country.
If that isn't enough to spark your curiosity, try the Terrific Towns of Harrisville and Lewiston or the home town of Lincoln.
