The Eagles of Hall Lake - Orangeville
You don't have to go way "up
north" any more to find bald eagles. These great
birds have made a comeback and now can be found in all parts
of Michigan. Just a few miles from
Orangeville is
famous Gun Lake. A short away on Gun Lake Road is the
Yankee Springs Recreation area and the quiet and secluded
Hall Lake. There may be eagles all over Michigan but
Hall Lake has at least one nesting pair that has taken up
residence.
When bald eagles reach maturity (at four
to five years of age), they select a mate, with whom they
probably mate for life. In captivity, they have been known
to live to 50 years, but in the wild, they probably don't
reach much more than 20 years of age.
