In 1954, the Ford Motor Company donated the village and 1700 acres of forest land to Michigan Tech University. The Ford Center consists of a year-round conference center, a nationally recognized research forest and the historic village of Alberta.
The Center specializes in providing lodging and meals for large or small groups. Vacation house rentals and dorms are available.
The Knothole Gift Shop is located at the main office and is open year round. It features books and local souvenirs, as well as stunning Birdseye Maple furniture and gifts created by Alberta’s own master woodworker. The Ford Center is conveniently located on US 41 just 8 miles south of L’Anse in the heart of the beautiful western Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
